Defining Your Style
Glam design encompasses a refined, elegant look for your space. It brings together an upscale feel with luxurious fabrics, sparkly accessories, and metals. When looking for glam inspiration, find pieces that catch your eye, or even feel opulent or a little over-the-top.
Be careful though, not all the elements in your event should be glitzy and shiny, if so, you run the risk of going overboard into the gaudy category. To balance things out, pair your selections with a few traditional elements that work well with your space. Glam elements can be blended with other styles to create a unique look that still captures the magic of sparkle and shine.
Examples of Glam Style
How can you implement this style?
Step 1:
A bit of research
Before you start meeting with decor teams or florists, we recommend that you spend some time online, look through Instagram and Pinterest, etc. to find things you like. If you’re feeling old-school you can even tear out pages from magazines and make a vision board!
Step 2:
Narrow it down
Next, you’ll want to visit the social media accounts of the decorator(s) you’re interested in meeting. Review their work and select items from their inventory that speak to you.
Step 3:
Create a portfolio
Many decorators will ask for your Pinterest board, so begin pinning things you like or saving them to a folder that you can easily share with them.
Step 4:
Communicate your style
During your first meeting with a decorator or florist, let them know the Glam style best describes you and show them your board so they have a visual of what you do like. Be sure to share what you don’t like too, so there aren’t any surprises.
Step 5:
Express yourself
Do not be afraid to voice your opinions. This is YOUR wedding and not their next promotional piece of content!
Step 6:
Start small, stay focused
If you are hosting multiple events, don’t try to get through ALL of them in one meeting. Start with your reception only for the initial meeting since this is usually the event with the most elements. Once you find the decorator you like for this event, it is very likely that they can manage your other events.
